About | Alice Anwen
I am a contemporary documentary photographer and 2019 graduate from the University of South Wales. My practice focuses on psychological issues and wellbeing. I seek to shed new light onto stigmatized and neglected subjects and generate dialogues that address the issues in the context of the 21st century.
My approach is fragmented - I focus on the small details that surround my subject and translate the main ideas into theatrical, conceptual photographs that make my work as visually appealing as it is informative. Empathy is a key objective within my work, and I photograph in a way that does not simply create an outline of the subject, but fully immerses myself and my viewers in the subjects’ environment and experiences. Together my images form a narrative that explores every aspect of my subject, telling its' story in its entirety.
